| On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9, some of the world’s greatest divas will invade the Capital City. Well, sort of. “Divas Almost Live” hits the Capitol Center Theatre, 123 Summers St., at 8 p.m. both days and will feature several female impersonators as legends like Judy Garland, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Wynonna Judd and Tina Turner. Charleston’s own Ted Brightwell will be on hand as Cher, Liza Minelli and Barbra Streisand. Los Angeles performer James “Gypsy” Haake, whose credits includes guest spots on TV’s “Married ... with Children,” “Dynasty” and “The Fall Guy,” will emcee. Other entertainers hail from Las Vegas and North Carolina. Tickets are $15, with proceeds benefiting the Covenant House AIDS program. Call the theater at 342-6522 or Visions Day Spa at 345-5620 for tickets. Call Covenant House at 344-8053 for more information. | |
