12/22/05 Members of Margaret Comer’s (front desk manager) congregation provided
a holiday party for the Drop In Center.
12/20/05 Once again, the Adopt A Family Program is a big success with food and
gifts donated by many congregations, businesses and individuals.
90 Families and individuals benefited from this program.
12/2/05 Clotho: A benefit art exhibit presented by Amy Willimas; historic and
contemporary women presented in fabric and fiber.
12/1/05 Covenant House celebrates World AIDS Day with an afternoon of fun and
AIDS education for the folks who come to our center.
11/21/05 Bonner Scholars from Concord College in WV, long time supporters,
visited to learn more about the various programs at Covenant House.

An eclectic group of community members gathered to watch Wal Mart: The High
Price of Low Cost, a great perspective on the corporate giant’s
affect in our communities.

Joan Armbruster from the AARP speaker’s Bureau led a timely discussion on what
we need to know about the new Medicare D prescription drug plan.

The Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators met for their
conference in Charleston, WV and chose Covenant House as the local Charity to
support. This resulted in contributions of $5000, matched dollar for dollar by
the Sallie Mae Foundation.

Historical, informative and food for thought and action characterized the
conversation today led by David Cormier and Ted Boettner.
Social Security Reform, what is this about and who will it harm raised many
questions from participants.

A joint fundraiser for Covenant House and Manna Meal was held at Temple Israel
to honor Helaine Rotgin on her 90th Birthday. These are two of many social
justice non-profits whose development and on-going mission have been nurtured
by Helaine's vital role.
9/14/05 Covenant House volunteers were invited to a special luncheon to
celebrate their many gifts and talents. Many of our programs would not survive
without their assistance.

center in support of Covenant House

A presentation and a lively discussion on Coal: A New Economy. Lewis Payne
introduced Steve Walker and Roger Lilly from Walker Machinery.
3/16/05 Members of Troop 3611, Sarah Arthur and Stephanie Kelly came by
Covenant House to donate Girl Scout cookies. The cookies are a great addition
to the food orders received by families in need.
